Suntory tests coffee in Indonesia

JIJI

Suntory Beverage & Food Ltd. said Wednesday that it has launched De’ Koffie coffee drinks in 130-ml plastic bottles in Indonesia.

The Suntory Holdings Ltd. unit believes demand for canned and bottled coffee drinks will grow in the predominantly Muslim nation, although supplies are limited.

De’ Koffie, which comes in three types — Original, Latte and Mocha — was made with know-how Suntory acquired from developing Boss, a canned coffee brand sold in Japan.

In Indonesia, Suntory’s soft drinks are marketed through a joint venture set up with the GarudaFood Group, a major local food and beverage company. Suntory has already released a green tea drink in Indonesia.
