The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto opened Friday as the luxury hotel chain's fourth branch in Japan, following those in Osaka, Tokyo and Okinawa.

The hotel mainly targets wealthy travelers from abroad, charging between ¥65,000 and ¥1 million per room.

The hotel has four floors above ground and three below, housing 134 guest rooms.

Prestigious sweets shop Pierre Herme Paris, Japanese restaurant Mizuki and Italian restaurant La Locanda are operating in the hotel.
