JETRO looks to up foreign investment

JIJI

The Japan External Trade Organization has begun studying measures to attract more foreign investment to help revive the domestic economy.

At the first meeting of JETRO’s team for investment promotion Tuesday, industry minister Toshimitsu Motegi stressed the importance of attracting more foreign investment, saying it will help boost productivity in the economy and create jobs.

Specifically, JETRO plans to appoint experts who can present business proposals to senior officials of target companies to work at its offices in Japan and abroad, in order to attract investment in such sectors as the environment, nursing care, tourism and retail.
