My Bloody Valentine bassist Debbie Googe manned the decks for a rare DJ set at a Tokyo Indie event in Tokyo on Friday.

The acclaimed alt-rock band was in Japan to play sold-out shows in Osaka and Tokyo in support of its new album "m b v."

Googe stopped by Tokyo Indie at Trump Room in Shibuya for a set that consisted of a surprising number of chart-toppers, which she said gave her the chance to "try something new."

Fans were delighted when Googe stepped out into the crowd to take pictures, and were even happier when later in the night guitarist and vocalist Kevin Shields showed up to join the party.

My Bloody Valentine released "m b v" via their website, www.mybloodyvalentine.org, on Feb. 2. Demand for the album was so high that initially the site's servers crashed. The new release was the band's first album since 1991's seminal and highly influential album "Loveless."
