Qantas plane returns to airport

OSAKA — A Qantas Airways plane bound for Cairns, Australia, returned to Kansai airport in Osaka shortly before midnight Saturday due to engine trouble, but no one was injured, Qantas officials said Sunday.

Flight 114 experienced trouble with a fuel pump in its second engine around 11:20 p.m. Saturday while flying above the Pacific Ocean some 230 km south of the airport.

The plane returned to the airport about 30 minutes later, the officials said, adding none of the 415 passengers and crew members was hurt.
