The Japan Volleyball League Organization said Tuesday it will extend the deadline until the end of the year for teams to nominate to join the new Super League.

The JVLO said on Sept. 20 the plan for the professional league — scheduled to start in the fall of 2018 — will go ahead if six or more teams express their intent to participate.

However, the tournament organizers were met with complaints from corporate teams saying that not enough time has been given to make a decision.

The JVLO runs the top-division Premier League and the second-tier Challenge League, made up largely of corporate teams, that will continue regardless of the outcome of the Super League preparations.
