Nineteen-year-old Nanako Fujita made her overseas debut on Sunday, coming seventh in a field of 15 at a Ladies World Championship race in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

Fujita, the Japan Racing Association's first female jockey in 16 years, steered 6-year-old stallion Af Al Hazer in the series' 15th and final race of the season, won by Briton Catherine Walton riding EB Dixie Burning at Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.

"(The result) is frustrating but I'd like to make the most of this experience for the JRA races," Fujita said.

Fujita missed her scheduled overseas debut in August when she was thrown from her mount in the paddock ahead of the 13th race of the series in England.
