FC Tokyo has promoted coach Yoshiyuki Shinoda to the top spot to replace fired manager Hiroshi Jofuku, the J. League first-division team announced Tuesday.

Shinoda managed Avispa Fukuoka from 2008 to 2011 before signing on to coach with FC Tokyo. During Avispa's time in the J1, the club won two games, drew two and lost 15. FC Tokyo has won seven, drawn five and lost 10 and currently sits 13th in the overall season standings.

The club is 16th in the second-stage table with one win and four defeats.
