Eighteen-year-old female jockey Nanako Fujita won her second national race on Saturday, finishing first in the eighth race at Tokyo Racecourse.

Fujita, the first female jockey from the Japan Racing Association in 16 years, guided 4-year-old mare and fourth favorite Lingus Vigorous to a win by a neck after stealing a march on Filare in the final stretch.

"The mare was strong. I'm really glad to win in Tokyo for the first time," Fujita said.

The win comes a week after she fell during a race at the same racecourse and was diagnosed with damaged triceps and bruising to her head.

Fujita won her first national race at Fukushima Racecourse on April 10.
