Nadeshiko Japan manager Norio Sasaki is set to stay on after the Women's World Cup in Canada, Japan Football Association chief Kuniya Daini revealed Saturday.

With Japan reaching the semifinals of the World Cup after beating Australia 1-0 on Saturday, Sasaki is set to remain the boss of the women's national team through the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics — should it get through the final round of Asian qualifying in March.

"There's nothing changing in that direction," said Daini, who stated the women's committee within the JFA will have the final say on the matter, but expects the 57-year-old Sasaki to remain in charge.

Sasaki was appointed manager in 2008 and won the 2011 World Cup in Germany. Nadeshiko also won silver at the 2012 London Olympics.
