The Orix Buffaloes ran riot in interleague action on Saturday with 16 hits to hammer the Hanshin Tigers 15-1 in the second round of their Kansai Derby.

Last season's Pacific League MVP, Chihiro Kaneko (2-1), pitched seven innings for the Buffaloes, allowing the opening run on a solo homer to Kosuke Fukudome in the fourth inning. Kaneko allowed five hits but no walks, while striking out nine.

"I'll have to reflect on allowing the run, but I could put it behind me quickly because it was so well struck. The team gave me room to breathe with a big lead," said the right-hander.
