The Miami Marlins' Ichiro Suzuki had his second straight multi-hit game Sunday, with an infield single and RBI base hit, in a 6-2 over the Washington Nationals one night after breaking Sadaharu Oh's Japanese career runs record.

Before the game, the 41-year-old's teammates presented him with the actual home plate he touched on Saturday to score his 1,968th career run, which surpassed Oh's mark by one. Suzuki on Sunday came home in the fourth on Adeiny Hechavarria's bases-loaded triple to score No. 1969.

He said he was touched by the surprise gift from his teammates.

"I didn't know what was going on at first when everyone started gathering around me," said Suzuki, who was seventh in the lineup and manned left field.

"It's the first time anybody's given me home plate before. We took pictures and everything, and it was a nice gesture by them. It reminded me of how great (Oh's) presence is."
