Japan midfielder Keisuke Honda, who has been nursing a sprained left ankle, has returned to team training with AC Milan ahead of its Serie A derby against Inter, Milan said on its official website on Tuesday.

Honda, who hurt his ankle in practice last Thursday, took part as the team started out with a series of warm-up exercises using obstacles, the dummy players, poles and cones.

The team then went through a nine-against-nine possession drill with three free players followed by 10 against 10 and a full-sided match, the website said. Milan takes on Inter on Sunday.

Honda has played in 23 league matches this season, scoring six times.
