Brad Eldred, who led the Central League with 37 home runs last season, will return to Japan on Friday after having knee surgery, the Hiroshima Carp announced Wednesday.
Eldred underwent a procedure to repair the medial meniscus in his right knee on March 16. There is no timetable for his return to action.
