WBA super featherweight champion Takashi Uchiyama and light flyweight champion Ryoichi Taguchi will make their title defenses May 6 at Ota Ward Gymnasium, Watanabe Gym announced Friday.
Uchiyama will take on OPBF champion Jomthong Chuwattana in his 10th title defense — tied for second most by a Japanese boxer — while Taguchi will fight his first, also against a Thai in former minimumweight champion Kwanthai Sithmorseng.
"It won't be easy and I think I'll struggle, but I want to get it done no matter what," Uchiyama said.
