London Olympic champion Ryota Murata will face the WBO's Douglas Ataide of Brazil in a nontitle match as the WBC No. 8 contender at Ota Ward General Gymnasium on May 1, the Teiken Boxing Gym announced Monday.

Murata will be fighting in his seventh bout against the 14th-ranked Ataide — his first against a ranked boxer since his professional debut two years ago.

"It's going to be a test of mettle," said Murata, who has not gotten knockouts in his previous two fights. "I want to bring the style that comes natural to me."

WBC super featherweight champion Takashi Miura will meet former IBF featherweight champion Billy Dib of Australia in his fourth title defense at the same event.

Akira Yaegashi, who lost a challenge for the WBC light flyweight crown late last year, will return in a match at super flyweight.
