Former New York Yankees teammates Hideki Matsui and Derek Jeter will throw out the ceremonial first pitches at Tokyo Dome before the March 21 preseason game between the Yomiuri Giants and Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters, the Giants said Thursday.
Matsui, who starred for the Giants before joining the Yankees in 2003, and Jeter are hosting the Tomodachi Charity Baseball Game in support of children from the disaster-hit Tohoku region. The day's events will include a home run-hitting contest between Matsui and Jeter, who retired at the end of last season.
