Texas Rangers right-hander Yu Darvish was pleased with his session Wednesday after throwing to hitters for the first time since August.
Darvish, who missed the final seven weeks of last season because of elbow inflammation, threw 30 pitches and said he felt he was pitching with power.
"My control was really good and there was power in my pitches," said Darvish. "I was able to pitch relaxed. As a result, (my sharpness) is improving."
In 2014, Darvish ended his third year in the majors with a 10-7 record from 22 starts. He finished the season with a 3.06 ERA with 182 strikeouts.
The former Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters ace was sidelined with inflammation in his elbow after what turned out to be his last game of the season on Aug. 9, when he allowed six runs on nine hits and four walks in four innings in an 8-3 defeat to the Houston Astros.
