Free agent infielder Michihiro Ogasawara has signed with the Central League's Chunichi Dragons, the team said Tuesday.

The 40-year-old former Yomiuri Giants star inked a one-year deal worth ¥30 million, sources have told Kyodo News.

Ogasawara played just 22 games this season for the Giants with nine hits, including one home run. He did not appear in the Japan Series, which Yomiuri lost to the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles.

For his career, Ogasawara has 2,080 hits, 377 homers and a .311 batting average.

Under new general manager Hiromitsu Ochiai, Chunichi, which finished fourth this year, has shaken up its roster, paring its payroll by hundreds of millions of yen.
