South Korean golfer Ku Ok-hee, a winner of 23 titles on the Japan LPGA Tour, died Wednesday after a heart attack at her home in Numazu, Shizuoka Prefecture, the JLPGA said Friday. She was 56.

The funeral is set to be held in South Korea with a date yet to be decided.

Ku joined the JLPGA Tour full time in 1984 and captured her first title the following year at the Kibun Ladies Classic.

The Seoul native won the Japan LPGA Championship in 1992 and 2002, while her last victory on the tour was at the 2005 Apita Circle-K Sunkus Ladies.

Ku had a lifetime earnings of ¥710 million on the JLPGA Tour, eight on the all-time list. She also won 20 events on the South Korean tour and served as the president of the KLPGA from 2011-12.
