Two-time world champion Haruna Asami defeated Miri Toda to win the women's 48-kilogram final at the All-Japan judo weight-class championships on Sunday.

Asami, who missed out on a spot at the London Olympics this past summer despite winning her second consecutive world title, won the judges' flag decision at Chiba Port Arena to capture her third Kodokan Cup and first in two years.

The 18-year-old Anzu Yamamoto took the 57-kg class for her second title in as many weight categories since winning the women's 52-kg class in 2010. Kana Abe and Miharu Kuroki both clinched their first titles at 63 kg and 52 kg, respectively.

National champion Hirotaka Kato scored ippon victories in all four matches to take the men's 90-kg crown, while 20-year-old Hisayoshi Harasawa also won at this meet for the first time at over 100 kg. Yusuke Kumashiro emerged the winner for the first time at 100 kg.
