Body parts found in boating pond in Tokyo’s Himonya Park

Kyodo, Staff Report

Human body parts including a head and legs were found in a pond in a Tokyo park on Thursday.

A passer-by made the discovery at around 10:35 a.m. in Meguro Ward’s Himonya Park, police said.

The small, leafy park, is located amid residential housing near Gakugei Daigaku Station on the Tokyu Toyoko Line. Rowing boat rentals on the pond are popular with families.

Police have launched an investigation.

They are treating it as a case of abandonment of a body, a criminal charge that typically develops into one for murder.
