Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will visit Italy, France, Belgium, Germany, Britain and Russia from Sunday to May 7 for talks with their leaders, the Japanese government said Thursday.

Abe will exchange views on the world economy and other major issues to be discussed at a Group of Seven summit in Japan in late May, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said at a news conference.

In Russia, Abe will talk with President Vladimir Putin on bilateral relations, including a territorial dispute over four Russian-held islets off Hokkaido, and international issues, Suga said.

The G-7 Ise-Shima summit, slated for May 26-27 in Mie Prefecture, will bring together the leaders of Japan, Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and the United States.
