Nintendo Co. posted a group operating profit of ¥24.77 billion on Thursday for the business year that ended March 31 — its first operating profit in four years — helped by robust sales of its Wii U home game console and software abroad.

The Kyoto-based game-maker, which has been struggling to boost income from content provided via home game video consoles, expects its group operating profit to double to ¥50 billion for the current year through March 2016.

On Thursday, Nintendo said it has agreed with U.S.-based Universal Parks & Resorts, the operator of Universal Studio theme parks, to a tie-up on developing amusement-park attractions featuring Nintendo game characters, including Super Mario Bros.
