Honda Motor Co. said Thursday it is recalling more than 130,000 vehicles to check for potentially damaged transmissions, as Mitsubishi Motors Corp. recalled 120,000 vehicles for potential air-conditioning problems.

Honda reported to regulators that it will recall 138,377 units spread across five minivehicle models, including the N-Box, to correct a programming error in the engine control computers that could damage their transmissions and disable them.

Mitsubishi will recall 120,021 cars spread across four minivehicle lines, including the Minicab, Town Box and Clipper, because substandard equipment used in them could disable their air conditioners, including the defrosters.

The Clipper was produced for Nissan Motor Co., which sold it under its own brand.

Honda has received 276 reports of problems since February, while Mitsubishi has received 206 reports since April 2009. Both say no accidents have been reported yet.

Meanwhile, Suzuki Motor Corp. told regulators it will recall 32,091 vehicles to check for malfunctioning air bags. The recall will affect the Carry, a light truck, and three other models, including the NT100 Clipper, which is produced for Nissan.
