The former psychologist at the main jail facility on Guam testified Thursday that a 22-year-old man currently on trial for the deaths of three Japanese tourists and the wounding of 11 people in a rampage in February last year did not show psychotic symptoms during the early part of his detention.

Andrea Leitheiser, formerly the clinical administrator and clinical psychologist of Guam's Department of Corrections, made the disclosure of her findings on the accused during the final day of the hearing of his case.

She worked at the facility at the time the defendant, Chad Ryan De Soto, had just been apprehended and incarcerated for driving his car into Japanese tourists and stabbing others on the night of Feb. 12, 2013, in the island's main tourist district of Tumon.
