A court has dismissed a ¥220 million libel suit by clothing chain Uniqlo Co. and its parent, Fast Retailing Co., that claimed publishing house Bungeishunju Ltd. hurt their reputation by printing an article and a book alleging store managers in Japan and factory workers in China toil under harsh labor conditions.

Fast Retailing said the ruling handed down Friday by the Tokyo District Court is "contrary to fact and it is truly regrettable."
