A 21-year-old woman was stabbed by her ex-boyfriend Friday at her apartment in Ebina, Kanagawa Prefecture, where she lives with her current boyfriend, police said.

The 25-year-old boyfriend called police around 9:20 a.m. saying, "My girlfriend has been stabbed by a guy with a knife."

The man told police that his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend came to their residence, stabbed her and ran away, investigators said.

The police acknowledged that although the woman had suffered several wounds, she was conscious when taken to a hospital and her injuries were not life-threatening. The woman's boyfriend was punched in the face and suffered a minor injury.

The 22-year-old perpetrator was later arrested on a charge of attempted murder in Aomori Prefecture, police said. From a security camera, police found out that the man took a bullet train bound for Shin-Aomori Station.

Aomori police, at the request of Kanagawa police, took him off a train at Kanita Station on the Tsugaru Line.

The attack incident took place in a residential area located about 800 meters from Ebina Station on the Odakyu Line.
