Director Tony Gilroy's second feature is a convoluted romantic caper where nothing seems as it is. Julia Roberts and Clive Owen star as ex-government operatives who worked for the CIA and MI6 amd now work as corporate spies for rival cosmetics giants in New York. The two try to make a fortune by double-crossing their employers. The film is slick to look at, but gets lost in an overly complex plot, which is piled with a bunch of triple-crosses and time jumps.
