A crafts fair is being held through Nov. 11 at the Museum of Arts and Crafts Itami in Hyogo Prefecture, where products including pottery, handwoven and dyed textiles, and engraved metal items are on sale.

Eight workshops will be open to teach visitors how to make various craft works.

The fair is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. except Nov. 11, when it will close at 4:30 p.m. It will not be open this Monday.

Admission is free, but participants in the workshops will have to pay a fee.

The venue is a six-minute walk from Itami Station on the JR Takarazuka Line and a nine-minute walk from Itami Station on the Hankyu Itami Line.

Ohitaki rice harvest festival at Kibune Shrine

The Ohitaki Festival, a sacred fire ritual to express gratitude for the year's rice harvest, will take place at Kibune Shrine in Kyoto on Wednesday starting at 11 a.m.

The festival is also aimed at getting rid of bad spirits.

The shrine is a 30-minute walk from Kibune Guchi Station on the Eizan Densha Line. Visitors can also take a five-minute ride on Kyoto Bus 33 from the station and get off at the Kibune bus stop.

Oscar-winning Danish film on tap in Suita

The National Museum of Ethnology in Suita, Osaka Prefecture, will show the award-winning Danish film "In a Better World" on Nov. 10.

The movie, which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign-Language Film, will start at 1:30 p.m.

No reservations are required and admission is free, but numbered tickets will be distributed from 10 a.m. on the day of the showing.

The museum is a 15-minute walk from Bampaku Kinen Koen and Koen Higashiguchi stations on the Osaka Mono Rail Line.

Rose festival at Shonai Ryokuchi Green Plaza

An autumn rose festival will be held at Shonai Ryokuchi Green Plaza in Nagoya on Nov. 10 and 11.

An outdoor concert will be held and fruit, pickles and snacks will be available for sale.

Shonai Ryokuchi Green Plaza is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free.

The Aichi ESD Festa 2012 is taking place in Nagakute, Aichi Prefecture, on Saturday and Sunday to promote the concept of "Education for Sustainable Development."

The festival featuring talk shows, concerts, workshops and other events runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
