The bj-league champion Yokohama B-Corsairs have sold a 51 percent ownership stake to Takeshi Suzuki, who is the J2 soccer club Tokyo Verdy's majority stockholder, the team announced on Friday.
Suzuki is the president of Buddy Kikaku Kenkyujo, which runs pre-elementary schools throughout Kanto.
Yokohama is actively seeking to sell the rest of the team's stock as well, according to news release.
Former team president Kazuo Hirota owned 100 percent of the team's stock before the recent sale.
The B-Corsairs have appointed a new president, Tetsuya Ueda, for next season. As previously reported, the Eastern Conference team will also have a new management company in place.
With all of the changes listed above, it remains unclear if head coach Reggie Geary, who has led Yokohama to a pair of Final Fours in the team's first two seasons, will return for a third season in charge.
