Kyodo

Kansai International Airport in Osaka saw departures for overseas destinations in the latter half of Golden Week peak Friday, with flights set to reach about 19,500, its operator said.

Arrivals are expected to peak Monday, New Kansai International Airport Co. said.

Expressways and trains leaving the Kansai region were crowded the same day as the four-day second half of Golden Week commenced. Long lines of traffic were seen stretching for about 25 km from the Otsu Interchange on the Meishin Expressway toward Nagoya, and for 20 km near Takarazuka Higashi Tunnel on the outbound lanes of the Chugoku Expressway, according to the Japan Road Traffic Information Center.
