‘Pleasantville (Color of Heart)’

by Kaori Shoji

Director: Gary Ross

Language: English

I picked up 1998 movie “Pleasantville” at my rental store the other day — what a blast from the past. It stars a young Tobey Maguire and Reese Witherspoon as teenage twins in suburbia, USA, who get zapped into the polite, pleasant, monochrome world of the 1950s. An insightful, well-crafted drama with frequent moments of hilarity. Director Gary Ross went on to direct “The Hunger Games.”
