Roppongi Kabuki cites sci-fi, punk
Known for its nightlife, its fleets of Ferraris and condos with sky-high prices, the affluent central Tokyo district of Roppongi will soon go where even that multinational neighborhood has never gone before — when the launch of a program named Roppongi Kabuki will see that ancient form of traditional theater staged there for the first time ever.

Get the taste of Brazil right at Caipirinha Bar
Even if you don't care for the nightclubs, rowdy bars and other delights of the Roppongi scene, Caipirinha Bar is one of those rare places that doesn't give off that general "Roppongi" feel that leads some patrons to take their drinking elsewhere. The bar, with its dim lighting and relaxing Brazilian background music, is in stark contrast to the loud entertainment venues that dot the neighborhood.

Go dancing in the streets of Roppongi
Home to numerous shopping areas, nightclubs and bars, Roppongi is probably not the first place you would think off when you want to experience some traditional Japanese culture. But despite its reputation, the district has a traditional side and its own Obon holiday event.

Rise and shine to tai chi at Roppongi Hills
Tokyo's night-life area of Roppongi is probably one of the last places you would expect to find people exercising early in the morning, but on weekends from July 26 to Aug. 10, the Roppongi Hills shopping complex welcomes anyone, whether they are hungover or not, to free T'ai Chi sessions.

Limits on 'stop and frisk' open to interpretation by Japan's police and courts
The rules that apply to 'stop and frisk' questioning are set down in the Police Duties Execution Act of 1948, but since the clauses are ambiguous and contradictory, there have been a lot of arguments about the legal limits on this kind of behavior,

When you're on the other side of the world finding a place to watch World Cup matches usually requires meticulous planning — from persuading friends with giant TV screens to let you join them, to preparing for an assault on your body clock. Flying to Brazil is an option, but for those of us with a less-than-extravagant budget, Adidas and other World Cup sponsors are bringing the spirit of the "2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Stadium" to Tokyo.

Butagumi Dining: Quality tonkatsu pork cutlets to eat and go
What's not to like about the original Butagumi? Tokyo's temple to high-end tonkatsu (deep-fried pork cutlets) really is the finest in town. Where else serves such beautiful cuts of premium pork — from hand-reared breeds of "heritage" pigs — and in such a classic setting?
