J. League chairman Mitsuru Murai is planning to visit tragedy-hit Brazilian side Chapecoense and its bereaved families to hand over commemorating videos of the late coach and some of the players who spent time in Japan during their careers.

"I'd like to make a visit myself and know what we can do for them," Murai said Tuesday when he suggested further support is on the cards following the yet-unscheduled visit.

Coach Caio Junior had a short stint managing Vissel Kobe in J1 in 2009, while midfielder Cleber Santana played for Kashiwa Reysol in 2005, Thiego for then-J1 Kyoto Sanga in 2010 and Arthur Maia spent a season at Kawasaki Frontale last year.

Forward Kempes played in Japan for three years, first at Cerezo Osaka in 2012 where he scored seven times in the top flight. He spent the following two seasons at J2 JEF United Chiba, becoming the top scorer in the division in 2013 with 22 goals.

Chapecoense was heading for the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final when the plane crashed in Medellin, Colombia, on Nov. 28, killing 71 people aboard with only six surviving.

The team's final opponents, Atletico Nacional, currently in Japan to compete in the Club World Cup, asked to hand the Copa Sudamericana title to Chapecoense before the proposal was approved by the South American governing body CONMEBOL.
