The figure skating competition for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, will start in the morning, according to a draft of the schedule released by organizers Tuesday.

The Olympic figure skating program has generally been held in the evenings as one of the marquee sports of the games, making it highly unusual for the competition to be held mid-day.

The events will start at 10 a.m. and finish after 2 p.m., based on the schedule put together by the Pyeongchang Olympic organizing committee last month.

The men's short program will take place Feb. 16, followed by the free skate a day later. The women's short program is scheduled Feb. 21 and the free two days later.
