The Japan Football Association's executive committee confirmed Tuesday that Japan Under-19 coach Atsushi Uchiyama will remain in charge through next year's Under-20 World Cup in South Korea.

Uchiyama guided Japan to the U-19 Asian Championship title with a 5-3 penalty shootout win over Saudi Arabia following a 0-0 after extra time in Sunday's final in Bahrain.

Speaking about the head coach's post for Tokyo 2020, JFA technical director Akira Nishino said, "We'd like to decide on that once the (U-20) World Cup has finished."

The U-20 World Cup will take place from May 20-June 11 in Cheonan, Daejeon, Incheon, Jeju, Jeonju and Suwon.
