Deactivated Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks lefty Tsuyoshi Wada is set to miss the Pacific League Climax Series final stage from Wednesday against the league champion Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters.

Wada, who led the league with 15 wins and also on a .750 winning percentage, was deactivated late last month after complaining of left elbow discomfort and has not resumed bullpen sessions.

"It's impossible (for him to make the final stage)," said SoftBank pitching coach Yoshinori Sato on Monday. "It doesn't matter how many catches you play as long as you don't go in the bullpen."

Former Baltimore Oriole and Chicago Cub Wada had a 3.04 ERA in his first season back in Japan after four years in the United States, but the two-time league and Japan Series champion SoftBank settled for second.

He missed the Hawks' two wins over third-placed Chiba Lotte Marines in the first stage of the postseason playoffs over the weekend.

The Hawks will travel to Sapporo Dome for a six-game series against the Fighters, who are handed a game advantage.
