Swimmer Natsumi Hoshi, who won bronze medals in the women's 200-meter butterfly at both the 2012 London Olympics and this summer's Rio de Janeiro Games, is set to retire, a source said Friday.

The 26-year-old Hoshi, who competed in the 2008 Beijing Games as a senior in high school, will make it official at a news conference scheduled for Tuesday.

Known for her strong finishes, Hoshi last year became the first Japanese woman to win a gold medal at the world championships.

Hoshi holds the current Japan record in the 200 butterfly of 2 minutes, 4.69 seconds, which has stood since April 2012.
