World No. 7 Kei Nishikori will play for his country in the upcoming Davis Cup World Group playoffs, the Japan Tennis Association said Tuesday.
Nishikori, who on Monday reached the U.S. Open quarterfinals for the second time in his career, will be joined by 82nd-ranked men’s singles player Yuichi Sugita, 85th-ranked Yoshihito Nishioka and 101st-ranked Taro Daniel when they face Ukraine from Sept. 16-18 at Osaka’s Utsubo Tennis Center.
