Inter Milan, the club for whom Japan defender Yuto Nagatomo plays, has terminated its contract with manager Roberto Mancini by mutual consent, the Italian Serie A side announced Monday.

Dutchman Frank de Boer, who left Ajax after six years in charge, is touted by local media as the Italian's replacement at San Siro, where Nagatomo has played the past five and a half years.

Mancini has managed Inter since Nov. 2014 and led them to the top of the table before the winter break last season, but eventually settled for fourth to miss out on a Champions League place.
