Orix Buffaloes shortstop Ryoichi Adachi has been hospitalized for colitis, the Pacific League club announced Saturday.
The 28-year-old, who led the Buffaloes in games played (139) and plate appearances (593) last season, had felt poorly for several days. He is expected to need two weeks of hospitalization, and his participation in spring camp in Miyazaki starting from Feb. 1 will depend on his condition.
"I want to do what I can to get back soon," Adachi said in a statement released by the team.
