Defender Kosuke Ota will move to Dutch first-division side Vitesse Arnhem on a full transfer, his J. League first-division club FC Tokyo announced Tuesday.
The 28-year-old Ota, who has played seven times for Japan, will be on contract with the Dutch side through the end of the 2020 season. He started all but three of Tokyo's league games this season, scoring three goals. He has nine goals in 214 career games.
"I love Tokyo and leaving is a tough decision," Ota said in a statement released by his team. "Considering my age, this may be my last chance and I've decided to seize it and accept this challenge."
