Former Japan international Takafumi Ogura was named coach and general manager of Nagoya Grampus on Tuesday.

Ogura, 42, served as an assistant to general manager Kazumasa Kume this season. Ogura, who will hold a news conference on Wednesday, will replace Akira Nishino in what will be his first managerial job.

Nishino’s side finished ninth over this year’s two stages. Grampus have not won a title since capturing the J. League in 2010.

Ogura joined Nagoya in 1992, scoring 34 goals in 166 league games before calling it a career in 2005.
