The Aomori Wat's have finalized contractual agreements with veteran guard Nile Murry and post player Quintin "Kwame" Alexander, the bj-league club announced on Friday.
Murry, one of the most familiar and popular players in the league, was named the playoff MVP in May after helping guide the Hamamatsu Higashimikawa Phoenix to a championship over the Akita Northern Happinets at Ariake Colosseum.
The Phoenix, who went 41-11 in the regular season, did not offer a contract to Murry for the 2015-16 campaign.
And so the 32-year-old Texas Christian University alum is on the move again. He has previously suited up for the Toyama Grouses, Osaka Evessa, Rizing Fukuoka and Niigata Albirex BB.
The 200-cm Alexander, 25, has played pro ball in the Philippines, Greece, Cyprus, South Korea and Bosnia-Herzegovina since leaving Cal State Bernardino.
With two new import players, the Wat's are in the midst of rebuilding.
In 2013-14, they went 23-29 in their second season and finished in sixth place in the 12-team Eastern Conference. They have advanced to the postseason twice.
Coach Koju Munakata left the Tohoku-based team after two seasons in charge. He has been replaced by Nobunaga Sato for the club's third and final campaign in the bj-league before the launch of the JPBL.
The Shinshu Brave Warriors selected Munakata as their new coach.
Other moves: Power forward Reggie Warren's contract has expired, the Kyoto Hannaryz announced on Friday. The three-time Best Five team selection was a key contributor for the Hannaryz last season, when they went 44-8 and set a regular-season victory total.
Meanwhile, fellow big man Kevin Kotzur was brought back for a second season with the Western Conference club, according to a news release issued a day later.
