The Japan Football Association's executive committee on Thursday decided to pay Nadeshiko Japan's players a special bonus after they reached the final of the Women's World Cup earlier this month.

The JFA will pay all 23 members of the squad ¥3 million. Nadeshiko Japan, the 2011 champions, missed out on a second straight world title when they were beaten 5-2 by the United States in the final in Vancouver on July 5.

But Norio Sasaki's team's achievement was recognized as they reached the final of a major tournament for the third time, having won the silver medal at the London Olympics in 2012.
