Italy to resume RWC training after money dispute

The Italian Rugby Federation says the Azzurri’s Rugby World Cup preparation will resume on Sunday, a week after training was suspended due to a financial squabble.

The federation says all 40 players in the northern town of Villabassa will receive a financial prize.

The federation wanted to link bonuses to results instead of simply being on the team.

The federation says, “All the players have the full support of the entire movement to have a great World Cup, and regain the serenity needed for the growth of our sport.”

Italy has won only one Six Nations match in the past two seasons, and is down to 15th in the world rankings.

At the World Cup in England in September, Italy is pooled with France, Ireland, Canada and Romania.
