The American football club of Kanagawa University has withdrawn from all league games this season because of a violent incident within the team, the Kanto Collegiate Football League announced on Thursday.

Kanagawa University belongs to the "Big 8" division, the second highest division of the KCFL. The withdrawal includes the promotion/demotion playoff game at the end of the season, so Kanagawa will drop to the lower division next year.

A former Kanagawa player allegedly hit a teammate's face with a steel bat last September, breaking the teammate's teeth. The school concluded the investigation of the incident recently and decided to ban the team for the season.
