Reigning Spanish League champion Atletico Madrid is launching a bid to acquire Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa along with his teammate Javier Hernandez, The Guardian said in its online edition Monday.

The Guardian said that a transfer deal for both players would be in excess of £25 million (about ¥4.3 billion).

New Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal is attempting to restructure the team, and both Kagawa and Hernandez have been on the fringe.

According to The Guardian, Van Gaal has told Kagawa that his opportunities will be limited at Old Trafford, given the newly introduced 3-5-2 system, unless Kagawa is willing to play out wide in a position that he isn't suited to play.
