LONDON – Kimiko Date-Krumm cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Paula Ormaechea of Argentina on Monday, advancing to the second round of the Aegon Classic in Birmingham.
The 43-year-old Date-Krumm, ranked 78th in the world, secured the win in just under an hour without facing a break point. She will play either Stefanie Voegele of Switzerland or Puerto Rico’s Monica Puig in the second round of the grass-court tournament.
